Between 2014 and 2023, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) conducted more than 2,940 raids of illegal drug labs across the US.

To find out where in the country has seen the most drug lab busts overall, the team at Joslyn Law Firm analyzed DEA data and mapped the states and cities with the highest number of raids over the previous ten years.

At the state level, Michigan tops the list with 454 DEA drug lab raids recorded from 2014 to 2023. North Carolina (403) follows closely behind, and Ohio (243) takes third place.

When it comes to cities, Kalamazoo, Michigan had the highest number of illegal drug lab busts over the decade studied, with a total of 29. Rounding off the top five spots are Akron, Ohio (27), Milton, Florida (21), Houston, Texas (20), and Port Huron, Michigan (20).

Who did this research? Nevada 7? Get out of here! LOL! I lived in Vegas for 30 years, they average around 10 meth lab raids PER MONTH.

tldr; labs were a big thing in 2015, tailed off after 2016, and, except for Houston and LA, more or less disappeared after that.

The real story is why did the number of busts drop so dramatically after 2016, and to virtually none in 2023??
